| Sinopsis | Inspired by the United Nations' Voluntary National Reviews (VNRs), subnational authorities are increasingly conducting Voluntary Local Reviews (VLRs) to accelerate Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) implementation. VLRs are powerful tools for fostering SDG localization, demonstrating local commitments, and strengthening multi-stakeholder engagement. The Provincial Government of DKI Jakarta, with support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) and United Cities and Local Governments Asia-Pacific (UCLG ASPAC), conducted its first VLR in 2021. This inclusive and collaborative review mapped and analyzed SDG progress, policies, and financing, aligning them with national and global agendas. The VLR revealed that before the COVID-19 pandemic, DKI Jakarta showed positive trends in implementing its development plans. By 2019, 37.5% of the province's 253 SDG indicators were achieved, and 26.5% were on track. However, the pandemic severely impacted key sectors, including the economy, health, and education. By 2020, the number of indicators needing special attention rose to 24.5%, while those on track dropped sharply to just 13.4%. This inaugural VLR provides a crucial, holistic snapshot of DKI Jakarta's SDG journey, highlighting both the successes achieved before the pandemic and the significant challenges that have since emerged. |
